Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film debuted, launching the animation giant as a leading animation studio and introducing audiences to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.

In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but leaving viewers wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang

The preview shows Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the insignia attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
